Stephen B. Whitaker

Stephen B. Whitaker is the founder of Whitaker Strategies. For over 15 years, he has advocated on behalf of companies on issues such as financial services, tax, energy and the environment, and international trade. He has represented one of the largest U.S. banking institutions for the past six years, as well as the largest U.S. manufacturer of consumer electronics for over thirteen years.

Mr. Whitaker served as a professional staff member on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, advising Members of Congress on the operation of U.S. trade laws, international trade agreements, and intellectual property rights. He was appointed to the U.S. Trade Representative's Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Information and Communications, Technologies, Services, and Electronic Commerce.

Prior to founding Whitaker Strategies, Mr. Whitaker served as Senior Vice President of Cassidy & Associates in Washington, DC, and founded the firm's International Trade Practice Group . He also served as senior policy adviser to the firm of Thelen Reid and Priest and launched the federal appropriations practice for DCI Group.

Mr. Whitaker earned a Ph.D. from Emory University, an M.S.L. from Yale Law School, an M.A. from Johns Hopkins, and a B.S. from Bates College. He won a Fulbright Fellowship for dissertation research in Bologna, Italy. He has taught at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, DC.
